Jean-Michel Basquiat - A Short Biography
I ve never understood why, but the Arts & entertainment world have always felt a quite sinister fascination for the died too young artists. Perhaps the most famous case is James Dean in the cinema, but you ll surely know Kurt Cobain in the music world or Jack Kerouac in the literature. And, if you look to the contemporary painting, you ll find Jean-Michel Basquiat. The Frantic Early ’70s
What’s so special about the Seventies? Why is there such a nostalgic buzz about that revolutionary time, especially at the beginning of that mutable decade?
At first, the early Seventies seemed to be a hangover from the late Sixties, but it soon became obvious that the times were a changing, not only in politics, but also in the arts, specifically in popular music. Woodstock, the definitive 1969 music festival summed up the late Sixties. At the time of that rock festival, which spawned pale imitations for years to come, no-one seemed to realise it was the end of an era, especially when three major rock stars died from unnatural causes soon afterwards. Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix died

After the suicide of band Boston leader Brad Delp and comedian Richard Jeni, I started to research other suicides by celebrities or famous people. I am shocked by the names on this list. I had hoped that the clues to these highly public suicides would provide clues to help prevent other suicides. Virtually all of the suicides were due to depression, loss, grief and intense pressure to be the best at their profession. Ultimately, just like every other successful death by suicide, they just didn’t want to live any more.
